Raat Akeli Hai is nowhere near Knives out

Same as any other thriller, this movie also starts with brutally killing of a woman and her driver by a local hitman. He the bodies disappeared by burying them in a leather tannery which belongs to the man who ordered the killing. After five years, Jatil Yadav (Nawazuddin Siddiqui), a police officer, looking for a good traditional woman to marry in his early 30's. And his mother is eager to see him tie a knot to a good woman.

On a late-night, Jatil Yadav gets a call from his superior officer to go and investigate a high-profile murder case in a politician's house. Raghubeer Singh (Khalid Tyabji) is lying dead on his bed, with a smashed face and a shot to his chest on his second wedding day. The first wife was killed brutally was his first wife.

Jatil Yadav started to investigate the case, yeah just like knives out there is single murder with multiple suspects, but, not everyone is a suspect at the same time. You can eliminate a few of them as the movie progress. The movie progress slowly until the maid tells about her missing father for five years who used to work as a driver.

With that clue, Jatil tries to uncover the whole story but, with the help of his superior officer Munna Raja (Aditya Srivastava), an independent MLA try to kill Jatil. In the process of investigation, Jatil attracted to Radhika Apte and believes she is innocent. At a certain point in the film, the writer wants you to believe that Netflix India's favourite actress Radhika Apte is the killer. Munna Raja wants to pin this murder case on the Radhika with his influence to save the killer.

Somehow, Nawazuddin Siddiqui's cop character is not so powerful enough to stand against the criminals but brave enough to talk in front of them. While he was under attack, he even won't draw his gun to defend himself and make a phone call to his colleague to say about the shooting. Radhika's character has a weight and importance in this film and does a great job, no doubt she is the first preference to Netflix.

Overall, you can't compare this Raat Akeli Hai to Knives Out as this movie lacks interesting subplot. If you are in the same position as the killer, you would definitely kill him. What's interesting in this film is, the reason behind the murders in the opening scene is the mystery until the end. And I don't think this title has nothing to do with the movie.
