Gulabo Sitabo Review

Gulabo Sitabo Review

Mirza (Amitabh Bachchan) marries a 17 year older Begum (Farrukh Jaffar) for her mansion. Mirza is too greedy, he sells everything in the mansion for small prices for money. Baankey (Ayushmann Khurrana) is a tenant in that mansion, he pays ₹30 month other tenants pays ₹70 per month. Mirza tries to extract money from Baankey for parking as he is not paying rent for more than three months.

Baankey owns a flour mill with that income he needs to raise three younger sisters and his mother. The older one is Guddo (Srishti Shrivastava) completed her degree and searching for a job. All of them live in a small sperate space inside the mansion. Two families need to share a single toilet.

One day a tenant is taking too much time in the toilet, so Baankey lost his patience and hits toilet wall with his leg. As this mansion belongs to somewhere around 1910 to 1920, the toilet wall fell to the small force. Mirza and the remaining tenants took this matter to the police station. A policeman resolved the issue and advises mirza to go to the civil court if there is any problem with tenants.

Gyanesh (Vijay Raaz) an Archaeological Survey of India Officer, hears the fight and goes to the mansion to take some photos. While taking the photos from a tree, Baankey interferes and ask him to leave. The next day Gyanesh visits the mansion and collect samples for testing.

Mirza approaches Christopher Clarke (Brijendra Kala) a lawyer to vacate the tenants from the mansion. Christoper asks to prepare a list of his Begam relatives to get NOC before selling the mansion.

From then on the movie turns, Mirza tries to own the mansion by forging his wife's signature. Baankey tries to manipulate Mirza to own the mansion. Gyanesh tries to convert this house into a museum. Christopher wants to sell the mansion to a big construction company in the city.

At last, 95-year-old Begum outruns all of them by selling the mansion to his boyfriend Abdul Rehman for one rupee and elopes with him and asks Mirza for divorce. Finally, she leaves a two-bedroom house and his favourite green chair for Mirza.

Overall this movie is all about a greedy 75 years old Muslim who marries for her wife for the mansion and waits anxiously for her death to own it. This movie makes you laugh with the over the greediness of Bachchan's charter. Amitabh Bachchan as mirza has done a great job in that attire of an old man.

My Rating 6/10
