Betaal : A Netflix Movie Review
Source: Netflix

A construction company wants to build a road through a tunnel in the Betaal mountains, but the local tribes are against it. So the contractor Ajay Mudhalvan (Jitendra Joshi), bribes the armed forces to kill the tribals and name them as Naxals. After killing the tribals, construction crew start digging the tunnel.

All the construction crew went in the tunnel and only one came out with scars. So commander Tyagi (Suchitra Pillai), and other few soldiers went into the tunnel with guns to check but no one returned, again Nadir Haq (Siddharth Menon)and Vikram Sirohi (Vineet Kumar) went inside and got Tyagi back. While coming back, Haq got bitten by a Zombie.

Colonel Lynedoch, with his cursed army, started to attack the soldiers and others. The one who got injured by the cursed army will get infect and turn into zombies. The remaining started to run towards an old British barrack built during Colonel Lynedoch time.

Before everyone reached to barrack, a tribal couple was already inside the barrack and refused to open the door. Meanwhile, the zombie army is firing at them, Ajay Mudhalvan's wife gets shot and dies. The tribal couple drags her dead body away and fastens her to a cot as a preventive measure in other room.

Slowly, one by one all are dying and turning into zombies and begin to follow the orders of Colonel Lynedoch who possessed by Commander Tyagi. Some drama between the two cousins and trust issues between the tribal couple and soldiers makes it interesting to watch.

Ajay Mudhalvan starts to negotiate with the Colonel Lynedoch to give her child for sacrifice in exchange of half of the power he gains by it. So remaining soldiers and the Puniya (Manjiri Pupala), the tribal woman tries to save the girl from the zombies.

Aahana Kumra and Manjiri Pupala played fearless woman roles which makes their characters special in this series. Different from Hollywood zombies, these Indian zombies fear Tumeric, salt and ashes and cannot cross the line made with them.

The remaining plot is how the remaining escape from Colonel Lynedoch and his fearless army of zombies. Every minute goes by this four-episode series is both interesting and thrilling.

My Rating 8/10
