HOW TO BOOK TATKAL TICKETS USING IRCTC OFFICIAL WEBSITE

FIRST OF ALL WHAT IS TATKAL TICKETS ? AND HOW IT IS HELPFUL?

The Tatkal Scheme is a ticketing program established by Indian Railways. The scheme is used for booking journeys at very short notice. The Indian Railways introduced it in all forms of reserved classes on almost all trains in India. It can be made both by online and offline.

FEATURES OF TATKAL TICKETS.

Tatkal tickets can be booked over the counter in a railway station and on the internet at IRCTC.

• Ticket booking opens at 10:00 AM on the day before the journey for Air conditioned coaches (AC). 
•  For sleeper coaches (NoN AC)it starts from 11:00 am.
• according to the train the number of seats available in Tatkal varies.
•  Unsold Tatkal tickets are released to passengers on a waiting list. 
•  Confirmed Tatkal tickets can be cancelled, but no refunds are given.
•  Tatkal tickets on the waiting list may be cancelled and refunded.
• For booking tatkal tickets you need high speed internet connection.

PROCEDURE TO BOOK TATKAL TICKETS USING IRCTC WEBSITE

STEP 1 

           Login using Irctc id and password in IRCTC . enter your login id, password  and enter captcha and click on login

STEP 2

enter from station and to station and date of journey on your left hand upper box as show in picture below. if you have any concessions like physically handicapped or journalist you can tick the box next to it.

STEP 3:

 For example you wish to travel from Rajahmundry to Tirupati enter the details  and select the date of journey and click on submit . then you will be show the list of trains between the station. then select tatkal  Category.

STEP4 :

Then select the train and class in which you want to travel you will be show the availability of tickets like this

STEP 5:

 Then click on book now then you will be show the details page you need to enter the details of passengers in this section. and then you need to add your phone number 

and then click on next
  
 STEP 6:

payment you can pay with master ,visa or rupay cards (debit or credit cards ). you can also pay with wallets like paytm, airtel money, freecharge. you can also pay with bhim,net banking and there is anew option called pay on delivery

every payment option has transaction charges ranges from 10 rupees per passenger to 18.9 rupees per passenger beware of it 

in here you can also see your trip details and amount and availability of tickets .

click on the suitable option and enter your card or wallet or netbanking or bhim details and press enter your money will be deducted and you will get your ticket .

do not press refresh   some times the process may take some time 

in case your money is deducted from your bank account and ticket is not issued don't worry your money will be transferred back to your account in 7- 14 working days.

NOTE: This above process needs to be done in less than a minute to successfully book tatkal ticket and you need high speed broad band
