Indian 2 Review: A sequel of the legendary movie

The story of the movie Indian, released 28 years ago, is about fighting corruption, which ruins society. In a fight against corruption, the protagonist even kills his son, who is involved in corruption, to set an example for society.

In the sequel, when three YouTubers are troubled by a few incidents around them, they try to reach Indian through social media with the details of the incidents. The old, new-fashioned Indian makes his way to India from Taipei.

His call to clean their own houses by informing the wrongdoings of their family members to eliminate corruption in India led to a significant movement led by the younger generation. The family members turned against their loved ones for complaining against them, which led to retaliation against the Indian, which got him caught at the end of the movie.

In the sequel, the legendary director, Shankar, fails to capture or set the aura of the original film released in 1996, such as the chemistry between Senapthy and Amruthavalli, a classic for the movie. Even with Kamal Hassan and Siddarth in lead roles, the director took a lot of time to explain the corruption and minute details, adding sentiment to the Youtuber's life rather than the main protagonist's.

I watched this movie for Kamal Hassan's acting and the role Kamal Hassan played, not for Siddharth's role. I am disappointed to see the director struggling to re-introduce his favorite character, who he created three decades ago.

However, you can see the quality of the film in production, making, and background music, which you would look for in Shankar's film, but the movie storyline fails to engage the audience. In the view of making another sequel to this film, the movie's ending is a bit clingy.

The legendary actor Kamal Hassan's role in the older movie makes you stick to the sofas in your home with dual roles, and martial arts fights that you rarely see in film at the period are the movie's highlights. In the sequel, there are a few scenes the director tried to recreate but failed to get my entire focus towards the movie.

I feel like the songs and the budget spent on them are useless for this kind of storyline, which feels like the director and the team have added for the sake of adding it to the movie.

Overall, In the race to collect all the expenditures in the first week, the director tried to take a regional movie to a national film by adding different regions, which added the budget to the film, which failed to collect money back to the producers. This film exemplifies that iconic movies shouldn't be touched for remakes or sequels like Robot-2 and Three Idiots.
