In June 2018, Fox star studio Network is brought by Disney for 71 billion US dollars. In this deal, Disney gets a huge streaming platform in India named Hotstar with 300 million active users. It's a popular streaming platform as it has a huge library of regional movies, serials from Star Network local channels and exclusively the IPL streaming rights made it golden egg for the Disney.

Previous acquisition of  Star Network by Fox Studios made Hotstar debut in International Market and exclusive streaming rights of certain titles from the HBO give Hotstar a chance fight for a piece of the streaming pie in India.

Disney has started its own streaming platform by withdrawing titles from Netflix on November 12th 2019 in the USA, Australia, New Zealand and The Netherlands. Disney Plus UK finally launches on March 24, along with Ireland, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Austria and Switzerland.

Disney Plus in India is launching within the Hotstar as DisneyPlus Hotstar on March 29th 2020. Just on the day of IPL first match. This gives Hotstar a good head start for promoting Disney Plus subscriptions in India. The price range will be between ₹ 2100  to ₹ 2500 per year for the whole lot. You can also choose between Hotstar VIP which costs ₹ 365 per year for just VIP stuff and live sports streaming lastly Hotstar Premium ₹ 999 per year for some American TV, Movies and all in VIP features.

Two days back a change in Hotstar App UI indicates that the launch is near and inevitable. The Hotstar or Disney did not make any official statements on the plans and pricing.
